| Cut out some bract and leaf shapes from stiff paper. Old watercolour paper works well. Look at the shapes of the bract and leaves. the long pointed part is needed for the flower centre |

Paint the leaf shape with permenant red and press onto paper. For best effects start with paler tones. Think about the centre of the flower and leave some white space. Add in some yellow and alizarin for variety. |

Continue with smaller shapes and darker colours. Think about where you want the white space to be in your composition |
