The studio is in Founex - 1 minute drive from the Coppet autoroute exit. It is possible to come by public transport - bus 814/813 from Coppet station The studio - opened in 2010 - is a light and comfortable space, warm in winter and cool in summer. Classes are given by Helen Jenkinson-Drew a British-Swiss artist. Helen has a Bachelor's degree in Art and Design from Leicester Polytechnic. Before opening her own studio, she worked as a graphic designer for a large multi-national in Zurich. Watercolour is not an easy medium but there is no need to fear it. We work on 2 demonstrations per month - this means that the whole class is working on the same project at the same time for week 1 - in week 2 the faster painters come with their own project and slower painters can finish project 1 without feeling stressed. Projects are to be considered as exercises - it is very important, at the end if you don't like your painting that you can tell me why and what you will improve the next time. We work on a medium size that will fit perfectly into a frame that you can buy in your local hardward store, instead of having to go to a specialist framer. My goal is to teach you strong skills so that you feel comfortable painting alone. We experiment with many different techniques and styles so that students develop their own style and the paintings don't all look like the demo model. I aim to broaden your artistic horizons, help you express yourself and teach you the basics of watercolour. Groups are small, I don't take more than 7 people per class, so that I can devote time to each student individually. The classes are 2 hours long and the cost is CHF 40. Students pay every week at the door which means if you have a conflicting appointment you don't feel stressed about cancelling. I do however encourage you to take classes regularly so you don't miss the topic in order to progress. Students are asked to provide their own materials but are welcome to use the studio materials until they are sure that they will continue with the classes. Drinks and snacks are offered. See homepage for current class days and times Classes are designed for beginners as well as experienced artists. |
